Streaming service Voot has announced Signature Shorts that will see it releasing 12 short films, all with an unconventional story and a twisted ending. Among the first set of films that are releasing today is actress Akshara Haasan’s short film titled Joyride.

Akshara, who made her debut with R. Balki’s Shamitabh, is sort of making a comeback with this short film. Speaking about the same, she says, “It is good that I got some time. In the meanwhile, I have worked on my acting skills.” Talking about her short film, she says, “It’s a different kind of a platform. We can explore things very differently. The fact that these platforms are taking our talent worldwide is overwhelming for all of us.”

Sharing how the film Joyride happened, she says, “I was in Mumbai and they (filmmakers) were looking for an actor for Joyride. When I was asked if I would like to be associated with a short film, I instantly agreed. Then Fardeen Khan narrated the story to me and here I am.”

An upcoming Tamil-Telugu-Hindi film titled Sabaash Naidu brings Akshara, her sister Shruti and their father Kamal Hassan under the same roof. Where Kamal and Shruti are acting in the film, Akshara is wearing the hat of an assistant director.

Describing her experience of working with them, Akshara says, “Working together on the same sets, we could understand each other’s professional side better. Since our professional style really varies, I am happy getting to know more about it.”

Is directing a movie on her mind? “I would definitely love to direct but at the moment, I am busy acting. However, if time permits and if I come across a good script, why not? I will surely love to direct a film. It could be a short film as well,” she concludes.
