Priyanka Chopra Jonas got heavily bashed on social media following one of her Instagram posts. The picture in question is a selfie in which the actress is wearing an anti-pollution mask. In the caption, she thanked the crew for providing air purifiers during the shoot due to the severely dangerous rising pollution levels in Delhi, where she is shooting for The White Tiger with Rajkummar Rao. She cautioned people about the disintegration of Delhi’s clean air and advised her followers to be safe and away from the pollution. She also sympathised with those that have to live on the streets and would pray for them.
However, right after the post went up, netizens began basing her ruthlessly over alleged ‘hypocrisy’. Many focused on the fact that she has been photographed smoking in the past in spite of having asthma, so her wearing a mask was quite ironic.
This is not the first time that she has been trolled over her smoking; she was trolled in September over an asthma commercial that she did. Trolls kept bringing up the now-viral picture of her smoking a blunt with her mother back in July. Some comments even went as far as mentioning the firecrackers that were used on the day of her wedding with singer-songwriter Nick Jonas.
However, loyal Priyanka fans did come out in her support, and hoped that she would too stay safe amidst the unending pollution.
