The actress revealed that not many people know about her bond with Sridevi but she was a person that she was fond of at a personal level.
Boney Kapoor recently launched a book on Sridevi at an event in New Delhi. Deepika Padukone graced the launch event and opened up on her bond with Sridevi. Reminiscing her early days back in 2007, Deepika shared in her speech, how Boney Kapoor and Sridevi have been champions of her work. She recollected how the couple sent her personalised messages for every film that she did and laud her for her performances. The actress revealed that not many people know about her bond with Sridevi but she was a person that she was fond of at a personal level.
Deepika revealed that she took no time to agree to Boney when he asked her to launch a book on his wife, not only because she was a celebrated actress, but also because they shared a good bond. She recollected her casual conversations with the stunning actress and how they spoke about something as general as staff issues at home. Deepika said that she feels honoured that the family gave her an opportunity to launch Sridevi’s book.
She further revealed that maybe it was the South Indian connect that brought her and Sridevi close but she was truly fond of the Hawa Hawai girl. She called Sridevi major support in her life, personally and professionally, and also revealed that if she and Boney Kapoor appreciated a performance of hers, she was sure that she would win an award that year as she believed of them as true critics.
The veteran actress passed away last year on February 24th but she is still celebrated as one of the most incredible performers in the history of Indian cinema. As a tribute to her awe-inspiring performances, a wax statue of Sridevi was installed at the Madame Tussauds Museum in Singapore earlier this year.
