Director Anurag Basu’s 2007 release Life… In A Metro garnered critical appreciation and had a decent box office collection. The director is now ready to kick-start work on the second film on the likes of Life… In A Metro, with a brand new cast, starring Abhishek Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao, Aditya Roy Kapur and Fatima Sana Shaikh.

The shooting has started in Kolkata and follows the similar structure of interconnected four stories. However, despite the similarities in the two films, the makers of the film have decided to not call it as a sequel of Life… In A Metro, since the change of producers from UTV to T-Series, makes it an issue of rights.

Positioned as a new film, the buzz also suggests that the film will have some situational comedy in the backdrop. Anurag has given his audience an impeccable side of his humour as seen in moving film like Barfi!, which had certain comic overtones, as did his failed Jagga Jasoos.

“Romance was the backdrop of Life… In A Metro.  But here, humour will play an integral part of the story telling. Anurag, himself, has a tremendous sense of humour and the humour will be treated with a lot of sensitivity as well,” informs a source close to the development of the film.

Moreover, the source also reveals that it is difficult to expect when the movie will get its release date.

“The release date of the film have not been finalised because of the difficulty in matching dates with some really busy actors. So only when the shooting reaches its conclusion the release dates of the film may perhaps be fixed in the latter half of 2019,”
