Mumbai: Despite Sonam Kapoor’s plans to adapt the novel ‘Battle for Bittora’ failing, the voracious reader has not slowed down in her quest to see more books being adapted for the big screen.

After confirming few days ago that she was working on a film based on Anuja Chauhan’s ‘The Zoya Factor’, the actress has decided to back the adaptation of another novel, this time a series.

Sonam has now acquired the rights of Krishna Udayasankar’s ‘The Aryavarta Chronicles,’ a modern retelling of the epic Mahabharata through its three books, Govinda, Kaurava and Kurukshetra.

Confirming the news, Udayasankar said, “I was zapped and star-struck when Sonam first reached out to me to let me know she’d enjoyed The Aryavarta Chronicles. It’s exciting that The Aryavarta Chronicles series is in the hands of someone with great aesthetic vision.”

About the actress, she says, “Sonam’s passion for the story and its characters and her down-to-earth attitude totally blew me away. I can’t wait to work with her.”

While there is no confirmation yet if the actress would only produce the film or also star in it, fans would definitely like to see her as one of the characters.
