Anil Ravipudi recently opened up about turning down the Tamil movie Jana Nayagan, explaining that he was not keen on directing a remake of his own film, Bhagavanth Kesari. He stated that he prefers working on original scripts and new subjects rather than repeating the same story in a different language.

Reports suggest that Vijay wanted to remake Bhagavanth Kesari and insisted on sticking closely to the original concept. Although Vijay's personal preference was that Ravipudi direct the remake, the Tollywood filmmaker had other plans.

Currently titled Jana Nayagan, the film’s release date has been stalled due to ongoing censor issues.

The remake will be released in Telugu as Jana Nayakudu. It co-stars Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju and others. The music has been set to tune by Anirudh Ravichander.

Anil's latest release at the box office is Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, starring Chiranjeevi and Nayanthara in lead roles.
