Actress Anasuya Bharadwaj has responded to the controversy surrounding her recent comments on the misuse of Hinduism and religious slogans, saying her remarks were taken out of context and portrayed as an attack on Sanatana Dharma.

In a detailed post on Instagram, Anasuya alleged that some people were deliberately distorting her words and spreading misinformation about her. She clarified that her comments were directed only at those who allegedly make vulgar remarks, personal attacks and threats against her online, and were not aimed at any religion or community.

Anasuya said she is a practising Hindu and a devotee of Lord Hanuman. She added that the values she has learned from Sanatana Dharma include standing up for the truth, questioning wrongdoing and respecting people regardless of their background.

The actress also said that the courage and strength she draws from Lord Hanuman inspire her to speak up when she feels she is being treated unfairly. She urged people not to form opinions based on edited video clips or half-truths circulating on social media and instead understand the complete context of her remarks.

Anasuya further stressed that she does not judge or blame anyone based on their religion and that her comments were only about what she described as harassment and personal attacks. “I am proud of my faith. I am proud of my Sanatana Dharma. I have no hesitation in calling myself a Hindu. At the same time, harassment is harassment, regardless of religion, and disrespect is disrespect,” she said in her post.

The actress ended her clarification with “Jai Shri Ram” and “Jai Hanuman”. Her post has since been widely shared on social media.
