Actress Rashi Slams Anasuya Bharadwaj Over Objectionable Joke
While Raasi clarified that Shivaji’s words were not entirely wrong, she felt the manner in which he expressed them was inappropriate.
Popular actress Raasi has strongly reacted to actress and television anchor Anasuya Bharadwaj amid the controversy triggered by actor Shivaji’s comments at the Dhandoraa pre-release event. Raasi’s remarks came after Anasuya and several others criticised Shivaji for his statements on the way heroines dress. While Raasi clarified that Shivaji’s words were not entirely wrong, she felt the manner in which he expressed them was inappropriate.
During her response, Raasi recalled a past incident that left her deeply hurt. She spoke about a comedy skit anchored by Anasuya, in which comedian Hyper Aadi made a remark referring to “Raasi Gari Phalalu.” Raasi pointed out that Anasuya’s on-stage reaction to the comment, questioning the phrase in a suggestive manner, was equally disturbing. She questioned how a woman could speak about another woman in such a way.
Raasi further revealed that she had once been invited to participate in a comedy show that planned a skit based on her popular film Preyasi Raave. She refused to be part of the segment, stating that she was uncomfortable with mocking or humiliating content. According to Raasi, Anasuya was involved in that episode as well, which added to her disappointment.
Strongly condemning body-shaming and insensitive language, Raasi stressed that no individual has the right to demean another person, especially in the name of entertainment. She revealed that she had seriously considered taking legal action over the issue but eventually decided against it after her mother advised her to let it go.
