AP students among toppers in Telangana EAPCET 2024
Hyderabad: AP-origin students swept three of the top ranks in both the engineering and agriculture-pharmacy streams of the TS Engineering, Agriculture, and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test (Eapcet), the results of which were announced on Saturday. While the top five performers in the engineering stream were men, girls outscored them in the overall percentages.
Rishi Shekhar Shukla from Hyderabad's Trimulgherry, third rank in the engineering stream, is used to topping by now — having done well in the IIT-JEE, CBSE boards, and international olympiads. "I'm now waiting to write my JEE Advanced and hold my real celebration after I clear it," he told Deccan Chronicle.
Second ranker Golleka Harsha of AP, currently in a hostel in Vijayawada, remained focused on the JEE Advanced. "For now, the three of us have gone out to celebrate, in his absence," said his father G Surya Kumar. Lekha said he couldn't wait to go back home after his JEE Advanced to celebrate his victories.
Sandesh B. of Khanamet, who secured the fourth rank in the engineering stream, has studied on scholarships throughout. “I aim to secure a good rank in JEE Advanced and pursue CSE at IIT Mumbai," he stated. His father, B. Rama Subba Reddy, and his mother, V. Rajeswari, government teachers, have been instrumental in his success, he said. Sandesh's record scoring 987/1,000 in Intermediate, 10/10 in SSC, and a 99.99 percentile in JEE Mains, securing an All India Rank of 252.
Aloor Praneetha of AP, the agriculture stream topper, said: "MBBS is my goal. I made my own schedule, took multiple mock tests and became adept at handling stress," she said. She is awaiting her NEET results.
Gaddam Sri Varshini, third ranker in the agriculture and pharmacy stream hailing from Hanamkonda, has dedicated herself to her studies. "I studied almost 13 hours a day. I'm waiting for the NEET results, and then, the final celebrations will begin," she said.
The top five rankers in the engineering stream were Sattivada Jyotiraditya from Palakonda, Andhra Pradesh; Gollaleka Harsha from Panchalinga, Kurnool; Rishi Shekhar Shukla from Trimulgherry, Hyderabad; Kovalapalli Sandesh from Khanamet, Hyderabad and Sai Yashwant Reddy from Kurnool with Putti Kushal Kumar, Hundekar Vidith, Rohan Sai Pabba, Kontham Mani Teja and Dhanukonda Srinidhi making up the top ten.
In the agriculture and pharmacy streams, the top five rankers were Aloor Pranitha from Madanapalle, Andhra Pradesh; Nara Dasari Radha Krishna from Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh; Gaddam Sri Varshini from Hanmakonda, Telangana; Sompally Saketh Raghav from Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh; Repala Sai Vivek from Asifnagar, Hyderabad. The others in the top ten were Mohammad Azhaan Saad, Vadlapudi Mukhesh Chowdary, Jenni Bhargav Sumanth, Jayashetty Aditya, and Poola Divya Teja.
The test was conducted by JNTU Hyderabad on behalf of the TS Council for Higher Engineering from May 7 to May 11. The computer-based test attracted more than 2.5 lakh applicants for the engineering programmes and over 1 lakh for the agriculture and pharmacy stream.
The overall eligibility percentage for the engineering stream was 74.93 per cent with 1.57 lakh of the 1.95 lakh candidates securing qualifying marks. The pass percentages for male and female candidates are 74.38 per cent and 75.85 per cent, respectively. For the agriculture and pharmacy streams, the overall eligibility percentage was 86 per cent, with male candidates numbering 88.25 per cent and and female candidates achieving 90.18.
The results were released on the TSCHE website, eapcet.tsche.ac.in, along with counselling dates for admission. The qualifying percentage of marks for the TS EAPCET-2024 is 25 per cent of the maximum marks for consideration for ranking, and no minimum qualifying mark is prescribed for SC/ST candidates.
