Malappuram: War Front, a short film on the supreme sacrifice of Lt Col E. K. Niranjan , will be released on the Republic Day.

The 1.5-minute film is written and directed by Reji Nair, who wrote the screenplay for Mammootty-starrer Pattalam.

Lt Col. Niranjan was trying to defuse the explosives from a dead terrorist’s body when it went off taking his own life during the terror strike on the Pathankot IAF base.

“The focal point of the film is the message of humanity Niranjan sent out while dealing with the terrorist’s body. He wanted to defuse the explosive because the terrorist was also a human being,” says Nair.

It also depicts the courage shown by Lt Col. Niranjan before an imminent death to fight for the country. “The film is shot also as a tribute the Indian Army,” he said. Reji Nair also has plans to send this short film to international anti-war film festivals.
