Kochi: A day after netizens of Kasargod vented rage on Facebook against him, home minister Ramesh Chennithala, on Thursday, clarified that DySP K. K. Ramachandran was transferred to the northernmost district considering a vacant post there.

"It pains me to learn that people on social media misinterpreted the transfer and criticised me," he wrote on the Facebook as a reply to the thousands of comments against "transfer to Kasargod".

He also recalled his days as a KPCC president and the activities in the district.

Facebookians irked by the tone of the minister showered abuses and posted heavy criticisms. Many called the minister for being typical and for degrading them.

The minister Tuesday night transferred the controversial DySP who allegedly harassed a techie at Paliyekkara Toll Plaza in Thrissur.

"I reacted quickly whenever a complaint was received on the home minister's mobile app. If I didn't act on the complaint people on social media would have criticised me for not taking action. The way in which many reacted on Facebook is not desirable. The whole issue was blown out of proportion" his post read.

"I am a person who had taken strong action for the development of Kasargod. It was based on my report a one-man commission was appointed and Rs 200 crore was allotted for the district,” he said.
