The accused has taken the victim's contact number a few days ago and since then he was sharing obscene pictures with her.

A case was registered against the two accused, who are absconding, police said.

The case began in 2016, when then-16-year-old, referred to by her initials in court records, shared a video with 3 -person group text chain.

The boy was rushed to the government-run Maharaja Yeshwantrao (MY) hospital after the alleged incident where he died, the inspector added.

Nandigama Sub Inspector K J Naidu said several teams were formed to probe the case and locate the girl.

The priest has been charged under relevant sections of the Juvenile Justice Act and POCSO Act, they said.

Tadiq's mother, Chandni, thanked the police for their prompt action and said her son was beaten for disobeying the orders of the peddlers.

A case under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 12 of the POCSO Act has been registered.

On June 17, the girl met one the accused at the RTC bus station in Ongole, a town 140km south of Amaravati.
