Over 1,300 new FPIs register with Sebi in FY18

The number of FPIs with the markets regulator climbed to 9,136 at the end of March this year from 7,807 a year ago.

Foreign investors have pulled out a massive USD 4 billion (over Rs 26,700 crore) from capital markets so far this month.

Sebi notified stricter norms stipulating a fee of USD 1,000 on each instrument to check any misuse for channelising black money.

They had however sold equities worth USD 1.77 billion in February.

FPIs withdrew a net sum of Rs 4,030 crore from equities and another Rs 8,641 crore from the debt market during May 2-11.

On a weekly basis, the Sensex gained 620.41 points, or 1.78 per cent, while the Nifty advanced 188.25 points, or 1.77 per cent.

FPIs had pulled out over Rs 11,674 crore from the country's capital market in February.

FPIs withdrew a net sum of Rs 5,552 crore from equities and another Rs 10,036 crore from the debt markets.

Sebi has asked Category II and III FPIs to provide list of their BOs in a prescribed format.
