Ahmedabad Crash: Air India Flight Issued Mayday Before Losing Contact

The Boeing 787 aircraft (tail number VT-ANB) departed Ahmedabad’s Runway 23 at 1:39 p.m. IST and issued a “Mayday” call before all communication was lost, according to DGCA. The plane crashed just outside the airport perimeter, with thick black smoke rising from the site. The flight was piloted by Capt. Sumeet Sabharwal, with 8,200 flying hours, and First Officer Clive Kundar, who had 1,100 hours of experience. Investigation is underway.
