Pune: BMW on Friday introduced the all-new Mini Cooper S Convertible priced at Rs 58.50 lakh at pan India showroom, making it the most affordable convertible car in the Indian market.

The drop-top version of the Cooper S hatchback is the third launch from the BMW-owned car manufacturer in three months, following the JCW All4 and Countryman SE All4 in October and November, respectively.

“At Mini, we believe life is too short for boring cars, which is why every Mini is built to stand out and deliver big smiles,” said Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO, BMW Group India.

The all-new Mini Convertible fires up the hallmark go-kart driving thrills, with looks that turn heads and emotions that mirror an always open spirit, he said, adding that Mini Convertible is open for fun.

The imported Mini Convertible features circular LED headlamps, an octagonal grille, and taillights with a Union Jack graphic. The car rides on 18-inch alloy wheels and has black plastic cladding around the wheel arches, side skirts, and bumpers.

Inside, the Cooper S Convertible gets a minimalistic dashboard with a circular 9.4-inch OLED touchscreen in the centre and a 2-spoke steering wheel with a head-up display.

The fabric roof can be lowered or raised in 18 seconds and 15 seconds, respectively, at speeds of up to 30 km/h. It also has a ‘sunroof mode’ where the top slides open partially.

The Cooper S Convertible also gets features like wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a Harman Kardon sound system, a wireless charger, ambient lighting, a rearview camera, and a driver’s seat with massage function.

The car is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine that makes 201 BHP and 300 Nm. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which drives the front wheels. Mini claims a 0-100 km/h time of 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 237 km/h.
