Pune: BMW Group, the German luxury automaker, on Wednesday introduced the Mini Cooper Convertible Stardust Edition priced at Rs 62.90 lakh at pan India showroom, which costs Rs 3.9 lakh more than the Cooper Convertible it's based on.

“The new Mini Convertible is the car for those who are open to fun and also enjoy making a distinct lifestyle statement,” said Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO at BMW Group India.

The Stardust edition is engineered for Mini fans who view their car not just as a mode of transport, but as a bold expression of individuality that remains magnificently rare by design on the road, he noted.

The imported special edition of the hatchback has a sparkling copper grey exterior. The ORVMs are painted in a contrasting shade of vibrant silver, and the wheels are 18-inch JCW Rallye Spoke alloys, also finished in the same shade of silver.

Its safety features include Level 1 ADAS, ABS, dynamic stability control, 3-point seatbelts for all four seats and a tyre pressure monitor.

The new car comes with a folding soft top that has a Union Jack graphic.

The electrically folding soft top can be fully opened in 18 seconds at speeds of up to 30ph, and it takes 15 seconds to close. When the top is open, the Stardust Edition has a luggage storing capacity of 160 litres. When closed, it expands to 215 litres.

Inside, you have electric sports seats in black covered in Vescin - a perforated, artificial leather-free upholstery made from recycled materials. The driver gets an active seat.

Mini claims a mileage of 16.82kpl for the Stardust Edition, which is marginally higher than the Cooper Convertible's 16.39kpl figure.

The car is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 201 BHP and 300 Nm of torque.

The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which allows the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. It has a top speed of 240 km/h.
