June Monthly Car Sales at 4 Lakh Units Fueled by Robust Domestic Demand

Pune: Car market leaders in India such as Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Mahindra and Hyundai posted robust sales estimated to around 4 lakh units to the dealers in June fueled by strong domestic demand.

“The car industry sales numbers for June could be around 4 lakh units, with a plus/minus of 2,000 to 3,000 units. In June last year the sales stood at 3,21,500 units,” Partho Banerjee, senior executive officer, marketing & sales at Maruti Suzuki told reporters.

He said three tailwinds such as the GST 2.0 cut, benefit given in the income tax till Rs 11 lakh, and repo rate reduction drove vehicle sales demand.

“However, some headwinds in the form of the West Asia war which pushed up vehicle prices, and now with the monsoon, we need to wait and watch,” Banerjee noted.

Sales at Maruti jumped 23.8 per cent year-on-year at 1,47,187 units last month, as compared to 1,18,906 units in June 2025.

Sales at Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles also jumped 69 per cent at 63,083 units in June as compared to 37,237 units in the same month last year.

“Q1 FY27 has marked a strong start for us, delivering industry-beating growth with sales of 182,574 cars and SUVs, up 46% year-on-year,” said Shailesh Chandra, MD and CEO, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles.

Similarly, sales at Mahindra, the SUV specialist, jumped 28 per cent year-on-year at 60,393 units. “Our total vehicle sales stood at 1,06,207, a 37 per cent YoY growth reflecting all-round demand traction across the portfolio,” said Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO, Automotive Division, M&M.

However, Hyundai's monthly volumes were impacted by supply-side issues as its sale last month stood at 39,635 units. It said a fire at one of its suppliers' facilities led to a production loss of 13,900 units during the month, affecting overall volumes.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor sold 31,016 units, clocking 7 per cent year-on-year growth compared to 28,869 units sold in June 2025.

Kia India reported its best-ever June sales since entering the Indian market, dispatching 24,552 units during the month, up 19 per cent from the 20,625 units sold in June 2025.

JSW MG Motor India recorded wholesale sales of 7,568 units in June, a 30 per cent increase compared to the same month last year.

Skoda Auto India sold 6,220 units, Renault India 4,063 units, and Nissan Motor India 3,006 units last month.
