India’s Core Sector Output Grows 1.8% in November 2025
Crude oil production declined 3.2 per cent in November
New Delhi: Aided by higher production of cement, steel, fertilisers and coal, India’s eight core infrastructure sectors recorded a growth of 1.8 per cent in November 2025 compared with the year-ago period, an official data released showed on Monday.
Among individual sectors, the data showed that coal production rose 2.1 per cent in November, while cement output surged 14.5 per cent and steel production 6.1 per cent during the month. “Besides, fertiliser production also posted a healthy growth of 5.6 per cent on a year-on-year basis,” it showed.
In contrast, the data further showed that crude oil production declined 3.2 per cent in November, while natural gas output fell 2.5 per cent. “Petroleum refinery products recorded a marginal contraction of 0.9 per cent, and electricity generation slipped 2.2 per cent during the month,” it showed.
On a cumulative basis for April–November 2025-26, steel and cement remained the strongest performers, with growth of 9.7 per cent and 8.2 per cent, respectively, while fertiliser production rose 1.3 per cent and refinery products saw a modest increase of 0.2 per cent.
