Pune: BMW, India's second largest luxury car maker, on Thursday launched its all-new flagship SUV BMW X7 priced at Rs 98.90 lakh at pan India showroom.
The new flagship SUV sits above the X5 and comes with two engines to choose from namely xDrive40i (petrol) and the xDrive30d (diesel).
The new BMW X7 will compete with other large, luxurious SUVs like the Mercedes-Benz GLS and the Range Rover in the country.
"The first-ever BMW X7 is a statement of the luxury class - the flagship of the 'X' range. It combines the modernity and exclusivity of a luxury sedan with the agile driving and spaciousness of a sports activity vehicle," Hans-Christian Baertels, President at BMW Group India, said.
"It's big, it's bold and has an incredible on-road presence. The first-ever BMW X7 opens up a brand new dimension in luxurious driving pleasure and is designed to elevate every moment of the journey," Baertels boasted.
Bookings have started while deliveries will begin in a few months time.
The SUV is brought in through the completely knocked down route and assembled at its factory near Chennai and hence the competitive pricing.
The xDrive40i is powered by a 3.0-litre straight-six, turbo-petrol engine that puts out 340hp and 450Nm of torque while the xDrive30d gets a 3.0-litre straight-six turbo-diesel unit that produces 265hp and 620Nm of torque.
Both these engine options come paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission and BMW's xDrive four-wheel drive system with surface-specific modes.
