GST Council meet in Hyderabad in September, rate reviews for 150 consumer items

Hyderabad: The Goods and Services and Tax Council meeting to be held in Hyderabad in September will issue directions to all companies to pass GST price reduction benefit to consumers by supplying goods with the new GST rates.

The council will initially provide a list of 150 consumer items (of the total 1,211 that attract GST) that will be cheaper as companies manufacturing these items must pass on the GST benefit to consumers.

Other items will be added to the list later. All the states complained to the Centre at the last GST Council meeting on August 5, that prices have risen post-GST, when it was promised that prices would come down.
