MNRE focuses on EoDB for PV makers

New Delhi: In a move to cut the cost to solar PV manufacturers, time between application to enlistment, compliance burden and increasing ease of doing business, the ministry of new and renewable energy (MNRE has reduced application fee by 80 per cent for PV makers. It also significantly cut the inspection fee as well.

The reforms taken up in the Approved List of Models and Manufactures for Solar Photovoltaic Modules' (ALMM) also allow an exemption from factory inspection in case of enlistment of additional models in ALMM. The manufacturers are also allowed to withdraw applications prior to factory inspection and others.

The reforms also provide minimum module efficiency thresholds for enlistment in ALMM.

“The changes in the ALMM for photovoltaic modules will help in ramping up domestic production of solar photovoltaic modules for. The PLI Scheme has resulted in boosting the domestic manufacturing capacity of solar modules. We already declared the trajectory of inviting bids of 50 GW renewables each year for the next 5 years,” he said.
