Nizamabad: Online shopping is rapidly on the rise in rural and urban areas in Nizamabad district. People, particularly women and youngsters are placing online orders for different kinds of articles including clothes.

As a result, sales in major shopping centres and other shops have drastically decreased. To cater to the needs of online purchasers, hundreds of youngsters   are working as delivery boys in Nizamabad and other towns in the district.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Latha, a housewife said that they are looking dress material and sarees in cell phones and placed order online.  “Within five days we received the dress material at an affordable price,” she said.

Replying to a question, she said that she has never been cheated in online shopping so far. Friends and relatives also showed interest in online purchases, she explained.

People prefer to purchase clothes, cellphones, electronic gadgets through online sales. Responding to the television, mobile phones and Internet advertisements, they select the item to be purchased.

Comparatively, they get a 10 to 20 per cent discount in online sales. To deliver, online goods, the companies recruit delivery boys in Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Bodhan and Armoor towns.

Around 300 boys are engaged in delivery of online goods.
