TS inflation rate second only to Uttarakhand

Hyderabad: Although the inflation rate in Telangana is on the decline, it remains on the higher side at 6.02 per cent against the national average of 4.70 per cent, as per the April data released by the union ministry of statistics on Friday.

The data shows that Telangana has the second highest inflation rate in the country after Uttarakhand, which registered 6.04 per cent. Incidentally, they are the only two states with an inflation rate that is in excess of six per cent.

Inflation in rural areas of Telangana was 5.45 per cent while it was 6.59 per cent in the urban areas. Both are higher than the respective national average of 4.68 per cent and 4.85 per cent. Uttarakhand has the highest urban inflation rate at 7.05 per cent.

Telangana has been witnessing consistent higher inflation rates since May 2022 when it stood at 9.4 per cent, the then highest in the country. However, it is on the decline this year. In February it was down to 8.5 per cent and 7.63 per cent in March.
