Mumbai: Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani said that his state opened a record 1.5 million bank accounts since notes recall on November 8 last year.

Apart from that, the state issued 7.5 million RuPay cards, Rupani told a gathering at the eighth edition of Vibrant Gujarat Summit in Gandhinagar.

Rupani said that his state backed Centre’s digital and clean economy drive. “Prime Minister has taken India towards clean and digital economy with his initiatives. We support his recent initiative,” NDTV quoted Rupani as saying.

The eighth edition of biennial economic conclave was conceptualised and started by the then Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi in 2003.

The conference saw foreign as well as domestic corporate giants taking part and pledging hundreds of dollars in investments.
