Hyderabad: Handicrafts, job work companies can miss GST sign-up

According to West Bengal finance minister Amit Mitra, besides exempting artisans,the GST Council has exempted clay idols from the tax.

Hyderabad: Handicraft companies and artisans are not required to register themselves with GST for selling their products in other states.

“Those selling handicrafts to other states — with an annual turn-over of less than Rs 20 lakh — are exempted from registration if they have a PAN and the goods are moved under the cover of an e-way bill, irrespective of their value,” finance minister Arun Jaitley said.

According to West Bengal finance minister Amit Mitra, besides exempting artisans,the GST Council has exempted clay idols from the tax.

Job workers, having less than Rs 20 lakh of annual turnover, are exempted from obtaining registration as long as the goods move under the cover of an e-way bill, irrespective of their value.
