CHENNAI: Children from economically disadvantaged families undergoing cancer treatment can now seek financial assistance through the Hyundai Hope for Cancer programme of Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF) and Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M).
The programme has opened an online nomination facility through which treating doctors, hospitals, parents, caregivers, NGOs and social organisations can refer eligible children for support from its Cancer Care Fund.
Applications can be submitted through the programme's online portal. The treating physicians can nominate patients by submitting the required medical records and patient nomination form.
Prof. S. Mahalingam of the Department of Biotechnology, IIT -M, who is spearheading the initiative, said the programme aimed to reach families across India who may not be aware of the financial assistance available to them.
Eligible paediatric cancer patients will receive treatment support subject to the programme's eligibility criteria, documentation and review process.
