Mobile wallet firm Paytm on Friday said its gold sales rose three-fold to 20 kg in a single day on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya on April 18.

New Delhi: One97 Communications Limited, the company which owns digital payment major, Paytm, announced that 38 million tickets have been sold in the financial year ended March 31.

The company also announced that driven by the consistent growth in its flights, trains and bus ticketing categories, Paytm has registered three-fold growth in FY '18 alone, compared to last year, and is aiming to achieve two-fold growth in ticketing volumes by the end of the current fiscal.

As per the company, more than 85 percent of all travel bookings come from the Paytm app, and its travel offerings are vastly popular across the metros, mini metros as well as tier-II and tier-III cities such as like Jaipur, Indore, Vizag and Lucknow, among others. It has also forged direct relationships with all major domestic and international airlines.

"60 percent of our growth has come from smaller cities, pointing at a rapid adoption of online travel services in smaller cities where Paytm has a deep penetration. This year, we plan to double our tech team as we continue to focus on building experiences that travellers love. Our goal is to build the country's most preferred destination for all kinds of travel needs," said Paytm Vice President, Abhishek Rajan.
