Hyderabad: The first dose of Sputnik V, the Russian-made Covid-19 vaccine was administered on Friday as part of a soft launch of the vaccine in Hyderabad, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, which is partnering with the Russian Direct Investment Fund that markets the vaccine.

Reddy’s Laboratories said the soft launch as part of a limited pilot, follows the receipt of regulatory clearance from the Central Drugs Laboratory, Kasauli on May 13.

It said more consignment of the imported doses are expected over the next few months, following which domestically produced doses would be used. The company said each of the imported dose is priced at Rs 948 and a 5% GST, with the possibility of a lower price point when local supply begins. The Company is working closely with its six manufacturing partners in India to fulfill regulatory requirements to ensure smooth and timely supply, it said.
