Pune: Honda, the Japanese car maker, which introduced the Honda Elevate facelift for the festive season, will bring in three more new cars this financial year 2027 to boost sales in the fiercely competitive car market in the country.
“We will introduce a new electric car and two more new nameplates from our global line-up with advanced hybrid powertrains,” Kunal Behl, vice president, marketing and sales at Honda Cars India told Financial Chronicle.
He said Honda’s first BEV SUV based on the 0 Alpha concept Honda has already begun pan-India testing, which will be locally produced at Honda’s Tapukara plant in Rajasthan.
Behl said the automaker also plans to bring in two more new cars before the end of this financial year without divulging details.
However, industry sources have indicated that models such as the Civic, Accord and CR-V are being looked at and will likely be brought in as full imports in limited numbers.
They said these nameplates have a high recall value in India and also get hybrid powertrains in markets abroad, adding that even the Prelude hybrid sports car is under consideration to be positioned as a halo model and brand builder.
Honda had launched City facelift and new ZR-V in May and on Tuesday it unveiled the new Honda Elevate SUV with bold design and advanced features at an introductory price of Rs 11.80 lakh.
In addition to these six launches in this fiscal year, Honda has confirmed a new compact SUV and a new midsize SUV for the Indian market, which will be introduced in 2028.
The updated Elevate gets refreshed styling, a more premium cabin, additional technology and safety features while continuing with the tried and tested 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine.
It also introduced a new ZX Plus variant equipped with ventilated rear seats, powered front seats and a 360-degree camera priced at Rs 18.40 lakh.
“The Elevate is the third of our six key launches planned for this financial year,” Toshiyuki Yanagisawa, the new president and CEO at Honda Cars India told reporters.
He said he expects the new Elevate to play a key role in driving the sales momentum during the ongoing festive season and strengthen its product portfolio offering customers more exciting choices.
