American Automotive Giant to compete In Formula One

This year’s Formula One World Championship is set to take place from March 8th, and there’s going to be 11 teams competing this season as opposed to the usual 10. Cadillac, a luxury automobile division of General Motors, known for its state-of-the-art luxury vehicles like the Cadillac Escalade, are deemed to make its debut in the upcoming season. The Cadillac team had begun its operations from their base, which was initially set up in Silverstone, backed by General Motors in partnership with TWG Motorsports Organisation, yet another well-known American motorsports organisation with teams competing in IndyCar and Formula E.
Cadillac is going to be the 11th team on the grid this year, becoming the first new team to compete at the Upcoming Australian Grand Prix, which is going to be held in the month of March. It is the only other new team without prior experience in the sport that has joined Formula One since it made its debut back in the year 2016. Initially, the Team got their approval from the FIA as a new constructor back in March, 2025. And as per the Team, for the present season, they are going to use the Ferrari Power Train with further plans to develop their own engine by the year 2029.
The team plans to operate from four facilities - Indianapolis, North Carolina, Michigan and Northamptonshire in the UK. CEO Dan Towriss expressed that Cadillac is going to be the first American team competing in the Modern Formula One, emphasising American authenticity and entertainment-focused, but without replicating the existing teams. Graem Lowdon, in an interview on a famous podcast, had said that the team will earn their respect gradually, execute well and then wish to grow and compete as time progresses.
As for the driver lineup, well-known Formula One driver Valtteri Bottas, with his countless years of experience with Mercedes, is set to fill the lineup along with Sergio Perez, another well-known Mexican driver, who was out of the seat for one year due to his struggles with his former Redbull team. Zhou Guanyu, the Chinese motorsport driver, will be taking the spot of the reserve driver for the team this season.
Recently, Cadillac shared a clip on the internet of its first-ever F1 car roaring through the race track, which also offered the fans a proper glimpse of the Engine Note of the Ferrari power unit.
However, the official Cadillac Formula 1 Livery for this year’s car is confirmed to be unveiled during the biggest sporting event, ”The Super Bowl”, and on that the car is said to be driven by Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas on Sunday, February 8th, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
