It competes with the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and Tata Nexon.

The Baleno-based SUV made its debut at Auto Expo in January, with bookings already underway for a token amount of Rs 11,000.

The Fronx is available with two engine options. These include a 1.2-litre K-Series Dual Jet motor that makes 89 BHP and 113 Nm. It is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT automatic.

The second engine option is an all-new 1.0-litre K-Series Boosterjet turbo-petrol that puts out 99 BHP and 148 Nm. This engine is offered with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

Maruti claims that the 1.2-litre petrol engine returns 21.79 km/l (5MT) and 22.89 km/l (AMT), while the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit delivers 21.50 km/l (5MT) and 20.01 km/l (6AT).

The Fronx comes loaded with several safety features, including 6 airbags, ESP, hill hold assist and roll over mitigation, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX.

The Fronx gets a dual-tone interior with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charger, cruise control, a 360-degree camera, a heads-up display and over 40 connected car features.

“The Fronx will pave the way towards strengthening our SUV portfolio along with our existing Grand Vitara, Brezza, and the upcoming Jimny. We are confident that the Fronx will be a game-changer with its unique design and modern features,” said Hisashi Takeuchi, MD & CEO at Maruti Suzuki India.
