Volvo C40 Recharge SUV unveiled, launch in August

 PUNE: Volvo, the Swedish luxury car maker, on Wednesday unveiled its second electric model, the C40 Recharge for the Indian market.

While the new electric SUV will be launched in the country in August with the priced will be announced, its customer deliveries will commence in September.

The company offers another electric SUV in the form of the XC40 Recharge priced at about Rs 56.90 lakh.

The Volvo C40 Recharge is a born electric vehicle, meaning it has been developed ground-up as an electric car. On the other hand, the Volvo XC40 Recharge has an internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart.

Built on the compact modular architecture (CMA) platform, the India-specific Volvo C40 Recharge has a twin motor setup with a combined output of 408hp and 660Nm. The power is supplied by a 78kWh battery.

The claimed range for the Volvo C40 Recharge on a single full charge is 530km (WLTP). It can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 4.7 seconds. The new electric SUV has all-wheel drive (AWD) as standard.

Buyers will have to book the Volvo C40 Recharge directly via the company's website after the prices are announced. Only the deliveries of the electric SUV will take place through dealerships.

Volvo plans to have 100 per cent electrified vehicles in the portfolio by 2030 and become carbon neutral by 2040.
