Pune: The French car giant Renault, which is struggling to make a mark in the fiercely competitive Indian car market, on Tuesday said it plans to launch five new cars, including SUVs and an electric car by 2027. It said the five new products include completely new models as well as the next generation of Kiger and Triber. This is in addition to the Euro 3 billion investment announced recently by Renault Brand for four important international hubs outside of Europe, including India.

Renault considers India one of four key hubs for the brand outside Europe. The automaker will launch two brand-new SUVs - a compact SUV, and a mid-size SUV - as well as the second-generation models of the Kiger and Triber in the Indian market between 2025 and 2027. The company also plans to introduce its first EV during this timeframe and claims to offer a high level of localization, thereby eyeing aggressive pricing.

Renault India has also refreshed its entire portfolio with the 2024 update. Starting with the Renault Triber, which starts from Rs 5.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 8.74 lakh.

Renault India has launched the 2024 Kiger at a starting price of Rs 5.99 lakh. The Kiger's interior receives a new colour for the semi-leatherette seats, as well as a leather-wrapped steering wheel. In addition, the SUV now has red brake callipers (only on the Turbo model), a bezel-less auto-dimming IRVM, and an auto-folding ORVM welcome and farewell feature. The top-of-the-line RXZ Turbo variant with a CVT is priced at Rs 11 lakh.

"Over the next three years, we are set to embark on an exhilarating journey with five product launches, encompassing both entirely new models and the next generation from our current product range,” said Venkatram Mamillapalle, Country CEO & Managing Director at Renault India Operations.
