Hyundai has decided to launch Tuscon by the end of 2016 or they may even push it to 2017.

Hyundai has planned for two major launches in this year. The first is the new generation Elantra which competes with Skoda Octavia and Chevrolet Cruze in that segment. They have confirmed the launch of Elantra by August 2016. The other major launch which is planned is Hyundai Tuscon.

Tuscon was supposed to hit the markets by September nearly a month after the release of Elantra. It has been reported that there could be a delay in the launch of Tuscon. Hyundai has decided to launch Tuscon by the end of 2016 or they may even push it to 2017.

The reason for this delay could be that Hyundai wants to give an ample space for the newly launched Elantra in the market. There is not much of a demand for sedans in Rs.15-20 lakh price range.

The sales of Honda and Toyota in this segment are down. Even Honda is not convinced to launch its Civic back. In these circumstances the newly launched model Elantra should get a good support and response.

The new model Tuscon which is yet to be launched is expected to be priced below that of Santa Fe. It is expected to be priced starting from Rs.18 Lakh and may go up to Rs.22-25 lakh. The price could be the same as that of Elantra.

It is a well known fact that Indians find SUVs more attractive than a sedan. With this kind of a situation, sales of Elantra would be overshadowed by Tuscon.
