Bomb Threat Note Triggers Panic on Air India Flight at RGIA
The passengers were panicked for more than an hour on seeing thorough checking of the aircraft
Hyderabad: Passengers travelling in Air India flight bound to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad witnessed tense moments on Monday night after unidentified persons left a note in the washroom stating that a bomb was planted in the aircraft and it would be exploded any time.
On seeing the note on a tissue paper in the washroom, the crew alerted the Air Traffic Control (ATC) at Shamshabad. The officials at the RGIA immediately pressed into service the bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs and checked the aircraft after it landed at RGIA.
The officials took necessary precautionary measures for the safety of passengers while checking the flight. As the squad did not find any explosive substances after checking the aircraft thoroughly, officials declared that it was a hoax bringing much needed relief for passengers.
For more than an hour, the passengers were panicked on seeing thorough checking of the aircraft but they later got a respite after officials declared that it was a hoax note. When contacted, Shamshabad Assistant Commissioner of Police, K Srinivas Rao confirmed Deccan Chronicle about the note found in the washroom.
It might be the handiwork of one among the passengers travelling the aircraft, the police said, adding that efforts were to trace the persons behind it with the help of passengers list.
