40 Private Schools Receive Threat Emails in Bengaluru, Nothing Suspicious Found

Another school which got threat mail was Wisdom International School at Chamarajpet and on receiving the threat mail, school authorities informed the police to take to searches in their school where about 800 students study. —

BENGALURU: As many as 40 private schools of Bengaluru received emails sent by anonymous sender on Friday threatening to have placed multiple explosives (TNT) in the premises of classrooms and stated “Not a single soul will survive.” However, searches by police in the targeted schools found nothing suspicious.

The email to various schools stated mass casualties and mentioned the explosives have been kept hidden in black plastic bags. One of the schools which received threat mail was St Germain’s Academy, Fraser Town and its principal Monica Anthony told reporters “We received an email on Friday morning at around 7.30 am and the matter was brought to the notice of police officials. Police conducted searches at the school classrooms/premises and nothing suspicious was found.”

Another school which got threat mail was Wisdom International School at Chamarajpet and on receiving the threat mail, school authorities informed the police to take to searches in their school where about 800 students study. The school authorities informed the parents of the threat mail and panicked parents were quick to pick-up their children from the school.

Reacting to the threat mail, Minister of Home Dr G. Parameshwar recalled previous incidents of threat mails sent to various private schools in Bengaluru city stated to have placed explosives in their school premises and over the latest threat mails to schools, he said “police will verify the schools which all have received threat mails and we will not threat mails for granted.”

It may be recalled here that several schools had received bomb threats in Bengaluru city in December, 2023. Then about 15 schools had received threat emails.
