Earlier today, reports stated that the personal securities provided to the Bollywood celebs by Mumbai Police have been downgraded for 15 personalities and have been removed for 25 others. After the news surfaced, Congress and other opposition parties locked horns over the issue.

The Congress reignited the intolerance debate and alleged that Aamir Khan was paying the cost for expressing his opinion against the Narendra Modi Government. Congress Spokesperson Randeep Surjewalla dubbed the move as a 'tit-for-tat' on the part of the ruling dispensation.

However, the Centre downplayed Aamir's security being nixed and said that such a call had been made only after a thorough assessment.
