I’m proud to be an Indian artiste’s wife, says Roya Faryabi

The news of Adnan Sami’s Indian citizenship has made his German-Afghani wife, Roya Faryabi very happy and proud.

“Only I know what  Adnan has been through in the past few years while he was waiting for the citizenship to come through. It was an ordeal. And Adnan had only his music to tide him through those times when his motives for wanting to stay in India were being questioned,” says Roya.

And now when it has finally happened the proud and relieved wife, who speaks fluent Hindi, says, “Mujhe faqr hai ke main ek Hindustani kalaakar ki biwi hoon (I am proud to be an Indian artiste’s wife).”

Roya continues, “It was divine intervention for sure. The effort was on for so long. And now, it happened suddenly.” The couple is now planning to throw a party to celebrate Adnan’s Indian citizenship.
