Pay panel to submit part 2 of report today to CM Oommen Chandy
A hike ranging between Rs 2,000 to Rs 12,000 in the basic salary.
Thiruvananthapuram: The second part of Pay Commission report and Water Authority pay revision report would be submitted to chief minister Oommen Chandy here on Thursday.
The submission of the second part of the report would pave the way for implementation of salary hike for state government employees. Chandy had informed Assembly earlier this month that the government was planning to implement the recommendations of Pay Commission for employees either by January end. A Cabinet subcommittee constituted to look into the report would hold further discussions on the recommendations made in the second part.
It may be recalled that Justice CV N Ramachaneran Nair Commission had submitted the first report in July recommending a hike in government employees salary. The report had recommended a hike ranging between Rs 2,000 to Rs 12,000 in the basic salary. The other major recommendations included hike of house allowance ranging from Rs 1000 to Rs 3000, minimum wage of Rs 17,000 and maximum of Rs 1.2 lakh and increase in retirement age from 56 to 58.
Meanwhile, an official release from chief minister’s office said that the families which were currently availing various pensions and whose income was less than Rs 1 lakh, would be eligible to receive one more social welfare pension. Those availing pensions of EPF, various social welfare boards, agricultural workers, local bodies members availing honorarium, those availing just one social welfare pension, those receiving grants like orphans, destitute, inmates of old age homes whose annual income is less than Rs 1 lakh, would be considered for an additional pension.
