Hyderabad: Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella on Monday told entrepreneurs to learn from failures to build success in their careers. “It’s not about the failure, it’s about learning from failure. Failure itself cannot be celebrated.

When I think about my career, my successes are built on learning from failures,” Mr Nadella told entrepreneurs at the Telangana government-funded start-up incubator T-Hub on Monday. He said this while replying to a question on how to handle failure.

Mr Nadella’s schedule at T-Hub was cloaked in secrecy to keep off the media, though it was known that he would be visiting the incubator. He was joined by two other tech heavyweights — Infosys CEO Vishal Sikka and Keerti Melkote, the co-founder of Aruba Networks, which was acquired by HP for $3 billion (over Rs 18,000 crore) in May 2015.

Speaking on how different Hyderabad had become since the time he left for the US, Mr Nadella said, “When I grew up here, there was no T-Hub. Probably, the closest to T was the Tank Bund.” He was reacting to IT minister K.T. Rama Rao introducing him as a Hyderabadi.

Mr Nadella told startups three key points: Do not lose the concept that drives them; build the capability to chase after the concept and have persistence; curate the culture they drive in their organisation constantly.
