Wayanad: Chief  Minister Oommen Chandy on Monday apologised for his delayed visit to the family of P.V. John, the Congress leader who committed suicide after a poll debacle.

He told his widow Mariamma and son Varghese that the Assembly session and other official compulsions delayed him.

The DCC secretary was found hanging in the Congress office on November 8. He had left a suicide suicide note holding four leaders including DCC president K.L. Poulose responsible. The family had expressed displeasure over the delay and demanded action against Mr Poulose.

The other three - Mahila Congress leaders Sylvie Thomas and Lekha Rajeev and DCC secretary V.K. Jose - were suspended recently on a fact-finding committee recommendation.
