Kochi: There seems to be no end to the tussle between the police and legal fraternity. In a new development, the cops registered a case against a lawyer couple who parked their car on the main porch of a police station and showered abuse at cops when asked them to remove it.

The lawyer meanwhile countered alleging that the police harassed them and criticised Justice P. D. Rajan, who summoned two cops for alleged misbehaviour.

According to the police, the lawyer threatened them claiming that he is the son of a judge.

The Ernakulam Central Police registered a case under Section 294 (B) (abusing at a public place) and section 506 (1) of IPC (criminal intimidation) against Ranjith Narayanan A. of Kozhikode.

The incident happened last week. "The couple parked their car at the main porch of the Central Station. A civil police officer (CPO) who was on duty asked the lawyer to remove the car from the porch but he refused," Kochi city police commissioner M. P. Dinesh said.

The CPO politely once again asked him to remove the car as assistant commissioner Ernakulam was about to reach the station and the main porch was allotted for parking police vehicles, police said.

"We went there to file a complaint against a person who abused my wife on the phone. When we parked the car at the police station, a CPO asked us to remove it. Within minutes 15 police personnel gathered and started criticising us," the lawyer said.
Police registered a crime and launched investigation.
