KOZHIKODE: Child Line Forum Nationwide and Rotary Club International have chosen to screen worldwide Kikki, a debut short film venture of eight youngsters from Kozhikode, to create awareness about child abuse.
They developed the interest in the film after its preliminary screening at Crown Theatre Kozhikode. Contrary to the stereotyped short films, characters in Kikki - father, mother, a child and her cousin brother - are represented by clay dolls.
The film was created under the banner of the six-year-old Blue Water Production. “This six-minute film narrates the trauma of child abuse and its far-reaching consequences on family and society,” its director Vaishak G. Ashok said. “It was an unexpected call from the ChildLine authorities.”
“The serious repercussions of child abuse are something that has to be widely discussed and we have just opened a platform,” said music director Murali.
“The film will be expanded with tips and precautions for parents and children with a mission to save every child.”
“It was indeed challenging to make the film with just dolls and the music played a major role in it. Unlike other movies, we have used only one small location, a table, to shoot the film,” he added.
Other credits go to Ramesh Naduviledam (script), Amrith Rajesh (cinematography), Wasim Ashraf (music), Arun P.A. (art direction), Saiju Unity (sound design) and Nidhin Raj Arol (editing).
