YSRC Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy
HyderabadThe Opposition YSR Congress on Monday said it would be boycotting the ongoing Winter Session, scheduled to end on Tuesday, to protest the refusal to revoke the one-year suspension of its MLA R.K. Roja and for continuing the discussion on the call money-sexual exploitation issue. Opposition leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy asked the Speaker to review his decision under Clause 7 of the 10th Schedule of the Constitution. If the Speaker does not accept the demands, the YSRC would boycott the session, he said.
Mr Reddy said Ms Roja was suspended against the rules and requested a rethink. He alleged that the government was avoiding the discussion on call money issue and many members of his party had not been given a chance to speak.

Legislative Affairs minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said the government was very clear and would not revoke Ms Roja’s suspension. He said the discussion on the call money issue was over and there is no need to take up the issue again.
BJP member P. Vishnu Kumar Raju also requested the Speaker to reduce the suspension period but also objected to the YSRC decision to boycott the Assembly.

Speaker Kodela Siva Prasad Rao said: “I want the Opposition in the House, I want it to participate in the discussion on people’s issues. Regarding suspension of your party member, you can express your protest in many ways and you can go to court also.”
However, Mr Reddy that his party was boycotting the session and left the House along with YSRC MLAs.
“You must not ignore the fact that people are watching the undemocratic way of running the Assembly,” he said.
