Jobs on sly dashes rank holders hopes

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Hundreds of candidates on the rank list of the Public Service Commission  for various posts in companies, corporations and boards under the state government are fearful of  losing their chances  owing to alleged backdoor appointments.

Though the PSC rank lists for various posts were in existence for  over a  year,  recruitments were not being conducted, the candidates said. They also alleged backdoor recruitments citing contradictions in information.

The PSC had issued the notification for recruitment to assistant, junior assistant and cashier posts in various boards, corporations and companies under the government in 2011 and two categories of recruitments were held. 

The  rank list for organisations like the KSEB and Kerala State Financial Enterprises (KSFE) were published  in September 2014.

Even when the PSC's live lists exist, hundreds of persons are still serving on daily wages in these organisations, the candidates alleged.

“According to the information available on the PSC website, no vacancies were reported from various welfare boards after May. However, the details  obtained under the Right to Information show  that there were vacancies  in many boards. Similarly, only 214 vacancies were reported to the PSC from Kerala Headload Workers’ Welfare Board, whereas information obtained under RTI from the board says that there were 272 vacancies,” a candidate pointed out.

They also alleged that though the Kerala Toddy Workers’ Welfare Board had  earlier reported 91 vacancies, it  now maintained that 25 were reported wrongly, which led  to suspicion.
