TUMAKURU: Law minister and veteran politician T.B Jayachandra and Madhugiri MLA K.N. Rajanna are striving hard to bring their sons into state politics by using the MLC elections scheduled to be held on December 27.

According to available sources, the two leaders are trying their best to bring their sons, Santhosh Jayachandra and R Rajendra respectively into politics.

Mr Rajanna, a leader of the SC/ ST and backward communities, who is also a close associate of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, is hoping to get the Congress ticket for his son Rajendra. Mr Jayachandra is keen on getting the ticket for his son Santhosh Jayachandra as he wants to introduce his son in Tumakuru politics before the rise of Jyoti Ganesh, son of former Lok Sabha member G.S. Basavaraj, and a youth icon of Tumakuru.

Santhosh Jayachandra had tried to contest the elections to the Assembly and Parliament, but failed to get the ticket. Rajendra too failed to get a ticket in the last Assembly and Parliament elections.

While Santhosh Jayachandra is not in active politics, Rajendra is the District Youth Congress president. When contacted, Shafi Ahmed, who is the District Congress president, said that the Congress not yet selected its candidate for Tumakuru.
