Hyderabad: Following a complaint by Osmania University students, the OU police on Tuesday booked a case against Goshamahal BJP MLA Raja Singh for his provocative statements.
“An FIR, under IPC Section 505, has been registered against the accused on the complaint submitted on Monday by OU students.

An investigation will also be done on this regard,” said inspector V. Ashok Reddy. No arrest has been made OU students meanwhile welcomed the police move and said that they would take legal paths to deal with Mr Singh.

After the MLA uploaded a poster of himself carrying a sword and calling for a march to the OU campus on December 10 to disrupt the beef festival, representatives of 25 student organisations had lodged a police complaint against him. The students had alleged that the MLA was trying to spread hatred and intimidate students with the poster.

The complainants also said that they would not serve cow meat in the campus, only buffalo and bullock meat. Earlier too, he has been booked for hate speeches, communal riots, and for attacking a cop. He tops the list of legislatures with the most number of criminal cases booked.
