Warangal: With the notification released for the lone MLC seat in the district under the local authority’s constituency, the political parties are once again looking for suitable candidates. With the TRS almost set to win this seat also, it is said that no one from the Opposition parties are willing to contest in the election. Word from within the Congress is that no one is daring to come forward as it is evident that they are going to lose. With this, the party is finding it difficult to find a candidate. The situation is the same in other parties also.

The TRS clearly has more votes than the Congress, BJP or the TD. With 408 MPTCs, 30 ZPTCs, 55 councillors and 7 ex-officio members, the TRS has 500 of the 860 votes. The Congress has 224 votes, TD has 92, the BJP only 19 and the Left and the rest combined account to another 27. In this situation, the election is only in name.

Meanwhile, the competition is rife in the ruling party as there are many leaders waiting to contest this election. Many leaders say they were promised by CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao that they would be given this chance as MLC. Gudimalla Ravi Kumar, who was disappointed after his name was almost confirmed as the candidate for the MP by-election and was withdrawn in the last moment, is also expecting this ticket.

Chief Minister Mr Rao himself visited Ravi Kumar’s residence when he came here to campaign. Other leaders expecting the ticket include Konda Muralidhar Rao, Takkallapalli Ravinder Rao and Nagurla Venkateswarlu.
