Swipe runs KitKat with a 1.3 GHz chip, 512 MB RAM, 3G & a 2MP camera.

Parents are often in a dilemma while giving smartphones to their children. Even though it’s about ensuring connectivity to kids, there’s also worry of misuse. Keeping these concerns in mind, Swipe Technologies’ Swipe Junior has two modes — a normal Android mode with free access to all Android apps, and a KidsOS mode with parental control that allows you to limit access to the Web.

The phone also allows you to track and limit your child’s movements through its GPS. Just download their Geo-Locator app and set the Geo-Fence area. The phone also comes with an SOS icon on the home screen, so that your kids can immediately contact you during any untoward emergency.

And one for the elderly...

SeniorWorld.com, a portal for senior citizens, has launched a phone for the elderly — raised, back-lit keys, 8 photo contacts for  easy dialing, an SOS button that triggers a siren call and SMS to 5 contacts giving out location and medical information, magnifier and torch. The Easyfone also  offers basic camera, FM Radio and 8GB of expandable  memory. (Rs 3,375)
