Indian banks' loans rose 9.7 pct year-over-year in two weeks to Nov 13: RBI

Mumbai: Indian banks' loans rose 9.7 per cent in the two weeks to Nov. 13 from a year earlier, while deposits rose 11 percent, the Reserve Bank of India's weekly statistical supplement showed on Friday.

Outstanding loans rose 269.10 billion rupees ($4.03 billion) to 68.31 trillion rupees in the two weeks to Nov. 13. Non-food credit rose 277.30 billion rupees to 67.29 trillion rupees, while food credit fell 8.10 billion rupees to 1.02 trillion rupees. Bank deposits fell 378.60 billion rupees to 91.02 trillion rupees in the two weeks to Nov. 13.
